Top UK Software developer wins another award

There’s nothing like a bit of positive validation for work well done. That’s why it came as great news to learn that Appdrawn had scooped the Global User Experience Award at this year’s Global Digital Experience Awards. 2020 has been a tough year for many, but our team have continued to provide the best service and technical expertise – and deliver the best digital platforms, apps and business solutions – to our customers.

We’re only half way through the year, and we’ve already been awarded five stars on review site Clutch (for the third year running), and have been announced as a finalist at the European IT & Software Excellence Awards 2020, for Innovating Technology Solution of the Year. The winners will be announced in the Autumn, which gives our team plenty of time to clear the space in their (virtual) awards cabinets and admire and reflect on our most recent win!

As with the majority of events this year, the Global Digital Experience Awards ceremony wasn’t able to take place in person. The glitz and glam of the dinner and ceremony was replaced with a virtual announcement, but that didn’t take away any of the excitement or pride the Appdrawn team felt – especially given the award title. Creating and delivering bespoke digital platforms and software involves technical expertise, and should generate ROI for the customer. But, really, the success of a project is down to how it’s received by the end-user.

That’s why winning the UX Award was a particularly proud moment for us. The project itself involved transforming what was once a very complicated, manual process into a slick, completely self-service, self-validating experience. The project involved automating the payments process within the platform we developed for our client, but – crucially – the end-user was kept front and centre throughout the whole design and development stages. This meant creating interfaces that guided the user through the payments process, and making different interfaces available depending on the technical skill of the user.

We also replicated the luxe design aesthetic that our client is known for, meaning the visuals were sleek and the platform enjoyable to use, while the client’s brand identity still shone through. In fact, this was a point recognised by the award’s judging panel. Kristjan Mar Hauksson, Digital Evangelist at Engage and Judge of GDXA, commented: “The campaign highlighted great branding has been maintained throughout and the app is streamlined to make use of browsing and purchasing even easier. Really great concept and impressive delivery. Well done.”

The client was a great partner to work with, the project was a pleasure to deliver, and – bolstered by our award win – we're confident that users will find the finished product equally appealing to use. Thanks to GDXA for hosting, and we look forward to seeing judges, organisers and industry peers (in person) at next year’s event.
