Learn the quickest and easiest ways to mirror your Mac screen, whether wired or wireless, so you can effortlessly share presentations, teach, or collaborate.

Screen mirroring on a Mac lets you display the same content on two screens at once. It’s useful for presentations, meetings, training sessions, or when you want others to see exactly what’s on your screen.

Here are the easiest ways to mirror your screen on macOS.

Method 1: Mirror screens using System Settings

This is the most reliable method and works on all modern Macs.

  1. Connect your external display (monitor, TV, or projector).
  2. Open System Settings.
  3. Click Displays.
  4. Select the external display.
  5. Under Use as, choose Mirror for Built-in Display.

Your Mac will now show the same content on both screens.

Method 2: Use Control Center (fastest for most users)

  1. Click the Control Center icon in the menu bar.
  2. Select Screen Mirroring.
  3. Choose the display you want to mirror to.

This works for both wired displays and AirPlay-compatible screens like Apple TV.

Method 3: Use the keyboard shortcut ⌘ + F1

If you’re using a Mac with an external keyboard and display:

  1. Make sure your external display is connected.
  2. Press ⌘ + F1.
  3. Your Mac will toggle between mirrored and extended display modes.

Note: On some Macs, especially laptops, you may need to also hold the Fn key (Fn + ⌘ + F1) depending on your keyboard settings.

Method 4: Mirror using AirPlay

To mirror your screen wirelessly:

  1. Open Control Center.
  2. Click Screen Mirroring.
  3. Select your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible display.

Your Mac screen will be mirrored wirelessly, ideal for meetings or classrooms.

When should you use screen mirroring?

  • Giving presentations
  • Teaching or training sessions
  • Sharing your screen in meetings
  • Demonstrating software or workflows

Final Tip

If you switch between mirrored and extended displays often, remember ⌘ + F1 it’s the quickest way once everything is connected. For wireless setups, Control Center is usually the fastest option.
